Add eight Americans, four Ukrainians, one translator, numerous
support people, blood, sweat, tears, seven days, a desire to serve the Lord and the Spirit of God.
In 2001, we joined SEND as a family of four: Alfie, Julie, Joseph and Micah. The next year Anya was born, and in 2003, we moved to Kyiv, Ukraine to follow the adventure God had for us, serving His kingdom in the former Soviet Union. After three years of language learning, culture adaptation and ministry, we moved to the port city of Odessa. From 2006 to 2018, we served in Odessa, Ukraine, primarily in theological education, church planting, and discipleship. We had the privilege of teaching God’s word, evangelizing through English teaching, discipling young people and raising our kids in a Slavic context. In 2018, it became clear that we needed to stay in the states to help our children transition into adult life in US culture. After doing a one year research project with our SEND Eurasia region, Julie began serving as the Director of Mobilization to Eurasia and Alfie began serving as Director of Theological Education in Eurasia as well as part of SEND’s training department (SEND U). We currently live in the US, and mobilize, train and plan remotely and in person when circumstances allow.
